Meet Our Minister

Pastor Dawie van Vuuren

Dawie van Vuuren (David) was born in South Africa. That’s where God called him to be His, and called him to full time service. That’s also where he met and married Alma. Dawie and Alma started out in ministry in a beautiful fisherman’s village near the southernmost tip of the African continent – a place called Gansbaai. Their three children were all born during that time.

Their next call was an inner city mission in Cape Town that reached out to homeless people, street children, drug addicts and prostitutes. From Cape Town Dawie received a call from a church in the heart of London where he ministered for nine years. Without any plans to move ‘down under’, a single telephone call near the end of 2009 turned the van Vuurens' world upside down. After two months of wrestling in prayer Dawie and Alma (and their children) were convinced that it was God Himself who called them to South Australia. The family landed in September 2010, and they say they find it hard to explain to anyone how much of God’s love they have experienced since.

(Dawie is pronounced Darvee, said with a silent r.)

Dawie had his Theological education at three different South African Universities, and has a Doctorate in Practical Theology.
